Tanned and Toned: 5 Tricks to Help You Keep Your Self-Tan Through the Sweaty Workouts

tan while working out

If you’re reading this, there’s a pretty good chance you like to spend some time working on your fitness, but you like to have that bronze glow working for you too. Who doesn’t want to be toned with a tan? Here is a trick (or five) to maintaining that bronze glow.

  1. Rinse and Repeat!

After you apply your tanner, wait at least eight hours and then rinse off with a quick, 1 minute shower that is lukewarm- no soap! The point of this is to rinse off the color guide (which is what can steak), but leave some product behind so it can continue to develop and you can stay your darkest. GlowPro Tanning Mousses contains two darkening ingredients that together can deepen for up to 72 hours. You’ll be free to sweat your heart out without worrying about brown stains on your gym clothes after this.

  1. ~it puts the lotion on its skin~

The truth is that you want to be careful when you actually do moisturize before and after you apply your tan. Since we are talking about hitting the weights or sweating through a HIIT workout, you’ll want to make sure you apply moisturizer before you work out to ensure that your skin stays smooth and hydrated. This will help you avoid any sort of flakes and streaks in your skin and tan. Want to do double duty? Use GlowPro’s Tan Extending Lotion which is moisturizing and bronzing to keep your hydrated while also locking in color.

  1. Swampass or pit stains? Baby powder will be your best friend!

Sweat, or any wetness, exfoliates the skin- which in turn, removes selftanner. Don’t get caught with skin that is different colors just because you workout and apply a DIY tan. The trick to avoid this is to apply baby powder to the areas that you find yourself sweating in first, so that could be the back of your knees, your ankles, or even between your “girls.” The baby powder helps absorb the sweat from your workout as well as being a barrier to friction and prevents your tan from becoming streaky or patchy.

  1. Wardrobe Change!!! Post-sweat sesh

Why does this matter after applying and rinsing off the instant bronzer? Glad you asked! Most of the time, when we workout we wear tight clothes made of synthetic (i.e., non-breathable) materials. While we look bomb at the gym, this type of fit can actually cause your self-tan to fade or discolor from holding and compressing the sweat. No one wants a weird pattern or ombre self-tanner after working out so pull a wardrobe change ASAP after your gym session.

  1. Use GlowPro Tans products!

There are lots of different self tanners available out there but GlowPro Tan’s offers one of the best around. Developed specifically to replicate a salon spray tan with it’s deep color from two time-released bronzing agents and a green based formula that won’t turn you orange. Applying these five tricks to maintaining a beautiful self-tan before, during, and after your workouts will keep your muscles and your tan coexisting together peacefully.
